At Soffid, every conversation can lead to a tailor-made solution
With a self-run deployment, your team owns hosting, patching, upgrades, and day-to-day tuning of policies and connectors. Soffid's enterprise subscription service takes that operational layer off your plate — infrastructure management, updates, and ongoing tuning are handled by Soffid, while you retain the choice of on-prem, cloud, or hybrid hosting rather than being forced onto a shared SaaS instance. The core software and its capabilities are identical either way; what changes is who carries the operational workload.
A subscription converts variable internal costs — hiring or training identity specialists, patching, on-call incident response — into a predictable recurring fee, which tends to be cheaper for organizations that would otherwise need to build that expertise from scratch. For organizations that already have a mature internal identity team and stable, low-change infrastructure, the multi-year math can favor self-hosting instead. The honest answer depends on your existing staffing and how often your environment changes; that's a real trade-off worth modeling with your own numbers rather than a claim that one model universally wins.
Because Soffid supports on-prem, cloud, and hybrid deployment, you choose where identity data physically resides — including keeping it within EU infrastructure for organizations with data-residency requirements, rather than accepting a fixed hosting region set by the vendor. As a European company, Soffid's own hosting options are built with EU data-sovereignty expectations in mind rather than defaulting to a US-based cloud. If data residency is a hard compliance requirement, confirm the specific hosting region and data flows in writing as part of the subscription agreement.
Dependency on provider uptime is real with any managed service, which is why deployment architecture and failover planning should be part of the subscription conversation, not an afterthought. Because Soffid can be deployed hybrid rather than pure multi-tenant SaaS, you have more architectural options for redundancy than with a fully vendor-hosted-only model. Ask for the specific uptime commitments and failover design for your deployment before signing, since these vary by hosting model and should be documented in the service agreement rather than assumed from general marketing language.
Subscription customers get the same policy, connector, and workflow configuration options as a self-hosted deployment — the subscription changes who operates the platform, not which features or customization paths are available. Custom connectors for legacy or homegrown applications and bespoke approval workflows remain fully configurable; what's typically scoped more tightly in a managed model is how quickly custom changes get deployed, since they go through the provider's change process rather than your own team pushing a change immediately.
Soffid's managed subscription includes proactive monitoring, patching, and policy/connector tuning as standard, not just infrastructure hosting with a support ticket queue for everything else. The specific division of responsibility — who handles routine access certifications versus who handles platform health, for instance — should be spelled out in the service definition you sign, since "managed" is not a standardized industry term and varies meaningfully between vendors.
It reduces the need for infrastructure and platform-operations skills, but you still need someone internally who understands your access model well enough to define policies, review proposed changes, and own the relationship with the provider. Organizations that assume a sub
